ABOUT THE FILM
Longsing, a young man from the Karbi tribe, is an active member of a local militant group. Sent to Punja to recruit new members, he stays with Bidyasing, meets his daughter Ringli and falls in love with her. Gradually, Longsing becomes part of local life.
When the village schoolteacher, a critic of militant groups and their cruel machinations, is kidnapped, the community asks Longsing for help. Knowing the group is behind the kidnapping, he pleads the teacher's case but fails. Deeply shaken, he recognises the group's cruelty and decides to renounce it. On his way back to the village, full of hopes for a new future, two armed men suddenly appear.
The film won the German Star of India for Best Feature Film at the Indian Film Festival Stuttgart in July 2026 and the Special Jury Award at the 31st Kolkata International Film Festival in November 2025. It highlights crisis and political and social struggle in North-East India.
