Puppets can comfort and encourage us. They can hold our emotions, memories and inner thoughts, and give form to things that are difficult to put into words.
Across different places and histories, puppets have carried local languages, memories, stories and voices that might otherwise be forgotten. They can also bring people from different communities together.
Like woodcuts and zines, puppetry is a hands-on art form that anyone can begin with. It is close to the body, close to everyday life and, above all, a way of sharing thoughts and feelings with others.
In this workshop, we will make, play and explore how a simple puppet can become a tool for expression, storytelling and connection.
